Giving two choice which are mutually exclusive which one will you choose. FREEDOM Or SLAVERY which one will you prefer or which of them will be your choice. I know you will like to jump at freedom because the name is fanciful, and the other is derogatory. But let us explore the benefit of each before you take your decision. Your decision has even being made, either you like it or not.
Slavery is so appealing because in it, you are owned and your owner is bound to provide the basic nessessities of life for you. The three basic needs of man such as food, clothing and shelter, also need such as hospital, insurance etc are provided free of charge for the slaves. In the olden days slaves work the farm in return for their upkeep and sales if need arises. Compared with modern day slavery.
The twenty first century slavery has being mordenised. Instead of using hot iron to tag number on slaves in our days staff number are used engraved on an identity card. Also competitive salaries are paid this day to the morden day slaves to tie them down and discourage poaching by competitive companies. This day housing allowance, wardrobe allowance, furniture allowance, luncheon allowance, annual leave allowance and leave bonus are paid to Morden day slaves to ensure they deliver at uptimum production. But slavery come with some challenges, since you are owned your opinion does not count, you are giving a manual of work, that has rules and regulations which must be followed religiously and a deviation attract sanctions that may ranger from caution, warning, final warning, disengagement or termination of appointments. Also depending on the whim and caprice of the slave owner and prevailing economic situation you can be downsized, rightzized or your service may be contract out. All in a bid to be profitable. Your death on the job does not affect anything since there so many other in the pool who can do your job
Having said that freedom come with responsibility, it take a lot of Hardwork to be free you have to provide your basic needs by yourself, you source the capital and take risk for the success and failure. There is no sympathy from anybody for you. You are on your own. But you own yourself nobody can dictate to you, you don't have a name tag, you can work 24/7 and you can rest 24/7. You don't answer to anybody, you are your own boss. You take the profit or you take the loss. You don't have resumption time neither a closing time. You pay tax on your company profit after deducting all your expenses including the living expenses, you can hire and you can fire. You can travel to wherever you like without taking permission from anybody. There is no ceiling on your income you can earn million in a day and you may not earn anything in a month. You think a lot, designing production from market survey, raising capital, production, sales and marketing. You fail, you succeed. You win and you loose. Nobody can fire you, you don't fear rationalization, downsizing, rightzizing and all manners of jargon.
Freedom does not necessarily means that you must have a big giant industry, you may be are hawker and still be free you may be an artisan and be free. So far you are answerable to yourself and not to any boss.
From the illustration above, I know you will have formed some opinion about freedom and Morden slavery. I will not deceive you, I have served as a slave in a Bank for ten years and the experience is interesting while it last. Thereafter I still desire more years of slavery, I have even beg to apply for other slavery appointment. But does it really worth it? Also I am out here as a free person fighting to keep my freedom. It take a lot of fight, contending to gain total freedom. But it is worthwhile. I believe if I have started the fight in the last ten year I would have master freedom.
If you are still slaving out there, my advise to you is to always think of how to get out and work it out until you achieve your freedom.
